Background
The platform, in brief.
Kompass is a B2B data business. Its own about page says Kompass was “Founded in 1944” and provides “innovative B2B information services that enable you to reach the right contacts in the right companies”, based on data expertise in more than 60 countries.
Its products include EasyBusiness, which its own product page describes as covering companies across more than 70 countries and 25 languages, and ByPath for sales intelligence. Kompass offers a free company listing that a business creates itself in four steps, and a paid visibility product it calls Booster; we found no published rate card as of 3 September 2026.
On 3 March 2026 Kompass published that it had joined forces with Expandi Limited, and its post states that all existing shareholders of Kompass will become shareholders of Expandi. The PR Newswire release of the same deal says Raffaele Apostoliti takes on chief executive responsibility at Kompass and that Patrick Coupier remains as strategic advisor.
The gap
Where it stops, in Speya’s assessment.
In Speya’s assessment the two tools are built for different jobs. The Kompass material describes company and contact data for sales, marketing and market monitoring, with a free self-created listing and a paid visibility product alongside it. Kompass does not sell itself as a procurement tool.
Speya is built for a procurement decision: a brief in plain language, a live search across millions of supplier profiles from 250+ data sources, AI agents checking certifications, financial health, ESG and sanctions with the source shown beside every finding, and a tiered shortlist with an audit trail. Speya Auto can run the case to the end.
As of 3 September 2026 we found no AI vetting of suppliers against certifications, financial health, ESG or sanctions described on the Kompass pages, and no plain-language sourcing brief that returns a ranked shortlist. In Speya’s assessment that is a difference of scope rather than of quality: a team building a prospect list is buying something else, and Kompass says that is what it is for.
