The platform, in brief.
Global Sources is a business-to-business sourcing company that runs an online marketplace, industry trade shows and buyer matching services.
Its exhibitions site describes the shows as “exceptional exhibition experiences for professional buyers seeking high-quality suppliers from Asia and beyond”, refers to “our first trade show in 2003”, and as of 3 September 2026 listed editions in Hong Kong and Indonesia in 2026, Riyadh in late 2026 and Vietnam in 2027.
On ownership, Global Sources announced in a press release dated 28 August 2017 “the completion of the acquisition by funds affiliated with Blackstone by way of an amalgamation”. That release described the company as “a leading business-to-business media company and a primary facilitator of trade with Greater China” and said its services were used by international buyers including 95 of the world’s top 100 retailers. That figure is from 2017 and we found no more recent first-party figures as of 3 September 2026.

Global Sources brings buyers and exporting suppliers together through listings, shows and matching. The buyer still frames the search, reads the profiles and qualifies the companies, and supplier information on the marketplace is provided by the suppliers themselves.
As of 3 September 2026 we found no Global Sources feature that takes a sourcing brief in plain language, screens candidates against certifications, financial health, ESG and sanctions evidence, and returns a tiered shortlist with the sources beside every name. We also found no current supplier count published on its own pages.
Its own description of its shows points at suppliers “from Asia and beyond”, so a buyer sourcing inside Europe or North America will usually need other routes as well.
